Climb, Swim, Pickup

45 minutes climbing, then

200m IM warmup
100m freestyle
200m IM without rest
500m freestyle in 11 minutes

Pickup. No contacts. Undelicious.
But the pasta afterwards was very delicious.

Swim, Climb

200m IM
200m freestyle
200m backstroke
200m breaststroke
200m butterfly
200m freestyle

All 200m sets, excluding the first, were done with basically no rest within the set. Less than 5 minutes rest between sets. All sets completed in under 5 minutes.

Climbed for a good hour. Skipped a big section of one route with a lot of horizontal movement, hadn't been able to do that last time so that felt good. Failed a route, then spent a hell of a long time trying to find a new way up the start of an old favorite. Eventually decided I didn't have the length or flexibility to do it like the others did it, so I did it my old way and made it up, albeit with a few falls. Got tired. Might do it again tomorrow.

More ultimate-related workouts soon.

Lift, Pickup

Bench press: 10 at 115, 8 at 125, 5 at 125, 5 at 115, 9 at 105lb
10 overhead squats 45lb
10 slow wide-grip dead-hang pullups with 20lb assistance
10 lunges each side at +45lb
3x1 pushups at +45lb

Just keeping the upper body going while I let my legs rest. Pickup was fun, guys and girls, ridiculous as usual. It's nice to get a little fun in, but I really do prefer high-quality, competitive Ultimate. Hopefully I get to see some this weekend, and play some the next.

Recovering

means preparing for the next season.

200m IM, rest every 50
200m freestyle, rest every 50
200m freestyle, no rest
200m IM, no rest

No rest means I touched the wall, took a breath or two then kept going. I still have trouble keeping my breathing regular for more than 50m.

Scrimmage vs CHS

Two short games, one for zone and one for directional. I think we kept the lead in both, but some of those kids are ballers. Also didn't look like they had their full team, I think they were on spring break...I layed out on defense, that felt great even though I didn't get it. I took a lot of pressure from one of their seniors, he was a little overaggressive at first and though I let a bunch of fouls go, I blew up a bit after he layed out into my back with both arms around me. My bad, shouldn't have yelled. But if you're going to bid, bid to one side? Don't try to wrap me up...but a good scrimmage, things are looking good for Sectionals.

Then some cardio: jumping on the trampoline. Yeah.

Climb

Wow, it's been a long time since I've done that. It hurt, and was not easy. Threw around for a while afterwards.

Practice

Feeling awful sore from last night. I went to the gym an hour before practice to stretch and loosen up, then found out that our practice time slot was moved. So after stretching I threw for a bit, then chilled until we were able to get on the fields. Warmup, some handler motion reps, 4v4 half-field Ultimate (lost one, then won one), then a scrimmage that my (slightly stacked) team won 7-4 or so. Fight club, I put myself in the back row (even though the rest of my time was on the front row), finished in the first group (5 or 6 out of 7). I need to start dialing in my focus in game situations. KMF.

Haven't been feeling quick or explosive this semester, but I think that's a problem which can be fixed. Maybe this is just what the doctor ordered.

Tabata pushups: 24, 18, 8, 8*, 8*, 8*, 7*, 2
